hot doug's

I want you to witness this phenomenon.

This is the encased meat emporium across the street from Midway known as Hot Doug's. Newman and Steve and Montoya have all eaten there, and if Mackey ever had the time, I would take him here as well -- but at the end of the day - Newm and Steve and Montoya would all tell you that it is good, but it is just a glorified hot dog joint.

I took this picture on Saturday around 3 PM. It had been snowing for hours (we got 6 inches that day). Check out the line to get in (click on the picture if necessary). It stretches from the front counter, out the door, and around the corner about 40 feet. It's like this every day: rain, sleet, sun or snow.

Unbelievable.

It is SO much more than a hot dog joint. 3 words: DUCK. FAT. FRIES.

You know, the last two years, Jim has shown me two different fine Chicago establishments:

2005: Yak-zies
2006: Hot Doug's

2007: ?!?!?!?!?!?!
