VMEA-bound

Today I'm hopping a flight to Virginia, to join the forces of the Jefferson Forest High School in a full frontal assault on the 2005 Virginia Music Educator's Convention. That's right -- we're gonna play Chaos Theory, and it's gonna be LOUD. Mad props to director David Webb for having the rocks to play this piece on such an "educational" occasion. I'm also going to be conducting "Reflections in a Tidal Pool". I'm definitely excited about this performance.

So apologies in advance if I don't manage to blog tomorrow... me and JFHS gotta make some NOIZE!!!!!

I just wanted to say thanks for making my first big performance in any type of band the most unforgetable experience of my life. You rocked out on the guitar and made the performance amazing. You're an amazing composer and hopefully you can write a piece for the *cough* piano.

Thank you so much for coming to VMEA! That was an incredible trip, and I know that I'll never forget you, Reflections, or Chaos Theory. I think I can honestly say that you have to be one of my favorite composers, and your music inspires me, especially the two pieces we just played.

Okay, I think I'm done rambling.

Hey! Thanks so much for taking the time to come and play with us! You are very down to earth and fun to be around. I know you're all famous and stuff.. but if you ever become like... Britney Spears famous or something don't change your amazing attitude! (and DON'T start wearing risqué clothing while playing guitar about being a genie in a bottle or some crap like that)
Just kidding.
Thanks again!

Hey!! it's my last year at JF (i play piccolo), so thanks for making VMEA awesomely amazing -- i think it was the coolest thing i've ever gotten to do. (especially listening to you play guitar on chaos theory - you are seriously talented!!!) and it was so cool that you were so nice to everyone and signed autographs and took pictures; i know it completely made my trip. good luck with everything else you're doing - especially the deadline on your soundtrack :)

Hey! This is abby- the lead trumpet player from JF- dude it's really awesome- you being this freakin awesome guitar player that everyone wants in their studios- to take time to come down and play with us at VMEA. Seeing you play and conduct and your enthusiasm for the music personally reminded me of why we were there- for the love of the music. VMEA was one of the best musical experiences of my life and I will remember it for a long time. By the way you're a freakin awesome guitar player!!! And i LOVED chaos theory and reflections in a tidal pool. pretty sweet- anyway- hope you have time to come visit us again some time and good luck with the whole music career- what a fun job!

Dude!
I'm the sophomore playin' the bone. THANK YOU JIM BONNEY!! You made my VMEA trip a wonderful experience. Getting to talk to you and take pictures and just hang out was great. I really enjoyed you conducting reflections in a tidal pool. Playing a piece by the composer is great b/c you know how you wanted it to be interpreted. thank you for a truly amazing time and experience.

Sincerely,

Trevor Holmes

P.S. if youre ever gonna sell your guitar lemme know!! but you'd have to sign it first!!

Both of your pieces were great and Chaos Theory is not only one of my favorite songs I've ever played, but also the absolute best title ever. I've been excited about this performance since summer, and you made it even better than I had imagined, so thanks again for coming!
