read this blog

I suck at coming up with titles. This is a well-documented fact, and I urge you to go back and read about it because I think it's (a) clever, which I alway like; and (b) snarky, which you guys seem to enjoy a great deal.

But this time I think I've actually come up with a great title, and to prove it, I'm going to put it out on public display for all to enjoy/abuse.

Ladies and gentlemen! My next piece, for drumset soloist and wind orchestra, being premiered in Loveland, Colorado, in January 2006, will be titled:

STICKS & STONES
(now all I have to do is write the music...)

Just as long as I get first dibs on hearing the piece.

Just to let you know, this title will definately be a song title for at least 3 signed bands of some of the more modern alt./punk/emo rock today. And maybe even the name of the actual band.

However, that doesn't really have much to do with Wind Band...so go for it. Although, I won't lie, that title will give me a bias, in my mind, and probably most young persons minds, of what the piece is supposed to sound like (if they listen to the certain styles of music that is).

Anyway, I like the title. :-)

I have an awful time with titles (especially titles that don't annoy this guy), but man, I think that's a great title, especially for a drum set concerto.
You're gonna need to have somebody play actual stones (a la Tan Dun), you know...

not to be too ridiculous, but the 'rose by any other name' post was posted on my 21st birthday. Unfortunately, I didn't read your blog at the time Jim, but now I can take this time to point out inane facts. Awesome. And you could title your piece anything, and the very least, the MUSIC will be awesome. Even if the piece ends up being called 'Read This Blog'. heh.
