John Moulder

I had my first guitar lesson in 10 years today... hooked up with a heavyweight musician and masterful guitar player named John Moulder in hopes of really pushing my playing to the next level. I first heard him play at this great club called the Hot House with the Paul Wertico Trio, and I was totally knocked out by his effortless facility, his seemingly limitless harmonic vocabulary, and his powerful musical expression.

Our focus is going to be primarily in the jazz idiom, but he's taking a very personal, diagnostic approach to generating the work I need to do to progress as a player -- filling in the gaps in my education, and offering some new directions to help me develop ideas. I'm very excited that he's agreed to take me on as a student, and I'm really looking forward to our work together.
